Caliper Rebuild Using Old Pads
Car stored for 6 yrs with new brake parts that have since corroded. Rebuilt the fronts a few weeks ago (seized piston) caused uneven wear so scrapped the almost-new pads.
The rear pads are like new and evenly worn. Should I throw these in my newly rebuilt rear calipers? Thanx in advance everybody for your always great help around here! |
Keep 'em and run 'em; they should be fine.

They should probably be fine....
but that said, rear pads are pretty darn cheap. If it was me, I'd take all the doubt out of the equation, and put new ones in. But that's just me. Good luck whatever you decide. |
I had the same issue and just replaced all 4 corners.

You can probably run them, in fact, that's what I would do. However, there will be some who think that since pads are relatively cheap, that you might as well start with fresh pads.
As I said, I'd probably use them. But that's just me. I'm generally looking to save money for beer!:D ---- Tom '75 targa |

Please feel free to send me your "like new and evenly worn" pads.
3306 Carlton Ave Fort Collins, CO 80525 I'll reimburse you for shipping. |
I once had to renew rotors while pads had been on the car for a few 1000 mls only ; simply reused them, they'll adjust to the different rotor surface, no sweat
