unless you have a special need (like a cover to be used mainly for rain or snow), the Beverly Hills Motoring cover is the best, I think.
Its one of the few that is 100% cotton, which is the easiest on the paint (most other covers use synthetic materials which are not as easy as cotton, which is why detailers use cotton). It is pretty thick, but not so thick as to be overly bulky. And you can wash it in your home machine, which makes it softer. Being cotton, it is very breathable. If you leave it on in the rain, it will get soaked, but if the sun comes out to dry it, no biggie. It simply CAN'T trap water. And, it is ultra-custom fitted to your car. The fit is perfect, unlike most others that are close, but not 100% perfect. Right in your price range, too. |

The above suggestions are good ones, but you have to ask yourself what the purpose of the cover will be and buy one to suit the purpose.
I have a tan flannel cover that is strictly for indoor use, I have two cats (strangely enough, they don't get on the car with a cover) which is the reason I purchased the type I did. Personally, I wouldn't think of covering a car outside. After dirt gets on the car or under the cover, a nice windy day will make for some sandpaper.

Ah, yes I forgot to mention that I would be using this outside on a daily basis.

If outdoors, get the evolution. I have it and it works great. Kind of bulky but, it is the best for outdoor use.

For outside use a Noah cover is good. You can get a custom made one for your car, in your budget range from http://www.bigskycarcovers.com/ .

My Noah cover (from covercraft) is going on it's 4th year. I use it indoors, and outdoors. It's light, sheds water well and fits perfectly. I do however use the california dust mop thinggy before putting the cover on. No scratches so far and the interior thanks me for keeping out the sun!

the only problem with that greenhouse type cover is that it probably takes 3 times longer to put on than a full cover, and you still don't have full protection. I can cover my car in around 20 seconds. Once you get a "method" down, a car cover goes on very quickly. That greenhouse cover, with all of its little straps, etc., looks like a pain to use.

i've been using one on my cab in the winter. takes less than a minute to install, and removes and folds up and stashes way easier than a big rainsoaked full cover. those straps are velcro by the way. very easy to use.

I just purchased the Dustop. I liked it because it is thicker than many others to protect from dings and the like (kids!). I also have a cab and many of the flannel covers leave lint!
Anyone have experience with the Dustop?

I second the Noah cover, I've been using it outdoors for 6 months and haven't had any problems. I only use it when the car is clean and the weather is good (i.e. dry and sunny). They aren't waterproof (which is better anyway) and soak water up pretty wel if rained on. I air dry in the garage and reuse once dry. I think I paid around $150 online for mine, custom fit with a bag and cable/locking device.
Cheers, |
