Porsche Crest Brake ID Please

The car is a 1983 SC but was upgraded to a 3.2 and wide body rear end among other things.

The Disk diameter are 113/8" and the remaining thikness is 13/16".

The caliper are mark as follow:

Driver side: ??? P 81

Passenger Side: ??? P 82

Are these original SC or Carrera upgrade?

I left the wheels off so I could check for more marking if requires.

Cheers

J.J.

Looks and sounds like stock SC calipers & rotors.

Porsche Crest Just Getting Ready for a Turbo Upgrade

Hi Steve

Until I do the Turbo look upgrade, I bought all the parts to change the lines and re-furbished the calibers (I'm pulling on the right side under braking).

Having a cross over car (aka Frankenstein) I check the CATs and if I'm not mistaking the front are the same for the SC & Carrera but the rear are different.

So if they are SC, I got the proper kit.

Thanks

J.J.

JJ,

Front SC and Carrera calipers have the same size pistons; only the widths are different due to rotor thicknesses (20mm vs 24mm).

Rear Carrera calipers have bigger pistons and the same thickness rotors (24mm) as the fronts.

Porsche Crest I'll be set soon

Hi Steve

From my thickness measurement, using a dialed caliper, I got 20.6375mm (13/16) left which is thicker than new SC Rotor thickness (20mm) and they got at least 3500 miles on them.

Is it possible to use Carrera rotor with SC Caliper?

No. The Carrera rotor is 24 mm thick
