Help getting temp tags for a car I just bought

I know, not really 911 technical stuff, but I really need help.

I live in Ohio and just bought a car in Mass.

I need to get temp tags to bring the car home. No idea how to get them. I assume that I need them from Mass. (like I have when I bought cars from dealers out of state)

But, I can not get a hold of the Massachusetts dmv. They will not answer thier phone.

I do not think I can get them from Ohio without title in hand. I am going to check though.

Anyone have any experience with Mass or what I need to do.

Your county's Clerk of Courts can get you an Ohio Temp tag. The purpose of the temp tag is to allow time to do the title work. I'm thinking you will need to show a bill of sale.

You will also need an Ohio out-of-state inspection form completed to get the MA title to an OH title. Usually a dealer will do this for you, it is just a serial number verification and odometer reading.

PM me if you need anything else, I can ask my title clerk here at work (dealership).

Until I go, though, I do not think I will have a title or bill of sale to show proof of ownership ?

I bought a car in CT. while in college and needed to get it to FL for the summer and get it registered. CT issued what was called an "IN TRANSIT" temp tag that was good for two weeks. All I had to have was proof of purchase and insurance and a valid DL.

EDIT : just saw above post. You wont need proof of ownership to get insurance, but you will to get the IN TRANSIT tag. No prob since you will be getting the temp tag after you get to MA.
