![]() ![]() I just put the cover on it and it's sitting in the garage for the winter. Good thing is I found a set of really good shape Fuchs w/ decent tires for $ 500.00 and put them on and drove around for the last couple a weeks before it snowed and they salted. Sent out my Fuchs to be refinished w/ painted centers and new SP-03's going on for the Spring ( so I have that to look forward to ). Thinking about reading and listening to the board and going to detail it this winter. Take my time and do a section at a time. Anyway I really enjoy this board and looking forward to think of, reading about, and asking questions about all things Porsche related. Mark Betts 1985 carrera targa ![]() |

Snow is here to stay! Urgh!!
Looking on the bright side; now the projects begin. I am always ambivalent about starting projects when I can still drive the car. Most projects always take longer than expected (at least the first time you do them) - so I don't like to miss out on a opportunity to drive or track the car. Now is the time for wish lists, ordering parts and getting down to business. All those ambitious projects, so much time, so little money..... Enjoy the winter hibernation - unlike our brethren South of the border or in warmer climes.

No, now's the time when an SC's A/C is actually sufficient.

My Carrera is in storage only until the next dry day. Which might very well be in May of 02. I am one of those nut cases who live in the NW and won't take the P-car into the wet abyss, at least not on purpose.

We've received no snow this year in Kansas City and the temp is near 50. Last year in December, it stayed below 20 with snow on the ground almost the entire month.
I drive mine all year with some precautions. As a Houston transplant, I can't go 4-5 months without driving my car. So after they apply salt, I do not drive it until after the next heavy rainstorm washes the roads off. Even then, I go and wash underneath just to be sure. Seems to have worked so far. I've had it 18 of its 22 years with no rust in sight. If the salt stays down for a long period, I at least start it and let it run for 30 minutes or so. I just back it close to the garage door, attach a 6" metal vent hose as added precaution, and route it outside. You should hear how a dual out Dansk/SSI combination sounds with two 6" hoses attached! Scares the sh%$ out of the squirrels. ![]() |

I put the car away in November. I'll try and take it out in April, and have the top end-clutch done. Christ! It's gonna take me that long to save up the $$$!
This is the time of year where I check pelican every 10 minutes for an interesting post... I feel so empty ![]()

Mine is garaged for the majority of the winter, I will take it out when it is dryish, if not I run the engine every 2-3 weeks.
They have only just started to salt the roads, last time I took the 911 out was two weeks ago!! I miss it already! I'm planning on re-furbishing the wheels in January so I hope there are no NICE days!! |

Put the baby to bed last weekend. Going to install the brass cooler over Christmas and restore the leather on the front seats in January. Hope that helps chase the blues away......

In the garage with the cover on it.
After the holidays, the cover comes off, and the engine comes back out. Shipping the gear box off to Rennsport Systems for some " driving enhancements". Plus sending my "new to me" 77 Turbo tail and IROC/RS bumpers off the the paint shop. So the next couple months will be fun.

Semi-storage for mine. It will be out on dry-road days throughout the winter.

Yes it is true. I am officially "Porsche-Less" for the winter. My baby
is up on jack stands to prevent flat spots on the tires, and a nice cover to keep her warm. I do this because there is more salt on Michigan roads than in the ocean!

I think you need to add an option to the poll -- "No, but bad winter". Well, we have mild winters in the DC/MD/NoVA area, though the locals think they're harsh. I have no garage and drive my p-car year round. I do have a cover for it, as I do not use the p-car to go the mile each way to the metro during the week -- just for nights and weekends. I'm going to Germany on Friday and am having a PCA buddy babysit my car for me -- not in his garage though.

NO,
Drove my '87 yesterday - sunny and 60 here in St. Louis. Go Rams!!! For the remainder of the winter - I keep it covered in the garage just waiting for a mild day to go out for a P-cruise.

Snap Richard!
Unless it is raining so hard that I cannot see I will be out whenever I am sober enough. Not too keen on night driving, maybe my lights are not up to scratch. Usually drive on Full beam, nobody ever flashes me. I have the H4 lamps. maybe it's just my eyes.............or the speed ![]()

Dirty, filthy, running every day in the rain of the Pacific Northwet. I love it!
Now if it snowed, that would be another thing... John

My car was meant to be all tucked up for the winter in a warm garage. However, my house move has not gone through yet, so the car is going to spend a few more months on the driveway under the cover.
As the car is out, I might as well get a few more drives out of it (on the few dry days we get) Also - Post No 100 - took me a long time to get here!
