Don't worry about the accommodations. I need to find a place to stay down there anyway. For I see on the SOLO2 schedule there are a couple events down there usually.
Going over Lost Trail, down the Lemhi or thru Sun Valley. Tough duty.

The drop, I wouldn't do it any other way( together ). Way too easy.
The rear main seal, easy deal.
Your front leak, well that's another story. Is there a phone line in the Hobby Shop ? I can bring my laptop and digital camera. Then we can get everyone's help diagnosing your nose leak. And figure out a course of action. Or use the Aircraft goo.

I have the oil line wrenches too. And I can bring my Dremel tool if you're going to reuse the old thermostat and not the lines.

You must be talking about the SCCA events that they hold out on the LOLA (Live ordnance loading area). The PCA usually does joint ventures with the SCCA out there. Very fun.

I'd love to have you come down.
We have a wide array of projects to accomplish.
we can mess with the gearbox...

fiddle around with the oil cooler install...

Hopefully get my motor to stop leaking...:)

Install my new carpet RS door panels and seats I bought... the drivers seat is power... oh boy...

replace my brake lines with SS lines and bleed the brakes...

paint my calipers black...

adjust the valves...

And since I'm having new tires installed... I went ahead and bought the turbo tie rod kit and the bump steer kit.
I figured since I have to have the tires aligned after mounting the new rubber anyway, I may as well do the turbo upgrade while i'm at it!

So, as you can see... we could be as busy as we want! ...or we could just fiddle around and focus on drinking beer. :D

You know, I've been doing work on my car in that Hobbyshop for almost 4 years. God only knows

how many times I have thought to myself "If only they had a computer here... I could ask the guys on the board..."
Well the day that I was trying to get my motor to start after the rebuild, I was murmuring something about the internet to the hobbyshop manager and he said "well... we have internet here...you can use it if you like."

My jaw dropped... all this time... they had a computer in the back office and I never thought to ask if it was online!!!!!!! D'OH!
So, you can leave the laptop but brink on the Red Hook and Bass Amber Ale!!!!!!!!!
I really hope you can get approval from the wife/girlfriend. i know that is sometimes a hurdle. :)

No, problem. I'm full up on Brownie points.
Wife, 3 kids. The 914 is a complete restoration/rebuild project for my 14 year old son. Body will be on a rotisserie.

I'm thinking a couple weekends. On long one to start. Then a regular one. Being that the gear box is "uncharted territory" for both of us. (I remember Steve Weiner telling me the gear box is an 8 hour job ) So I'm thinking, you and me. Two full days. Hopefully.

The other stuff, is stuff we've done before. So that makes it easier. Still work, but much less second guessing yourself.

The Solo2 events were on the SCCA calendar. Usually theres one here in Missoula a month. Then I thought I'd do one other each month, for fun.

Have a great day.

Cary are you part of the big sky region? Did you take part in the day run when the Canadians from Wild Rose Region went down? This would have been 2 1/2 years ago (wow how time flies) It was Sept 1999?

I went down to that and had a great drive, there were some beautiful cars along.

Speed Yellow 96 Twin Turbo was my Favorite.

Shawn, I just started last fall. Have only been to one event. DE at Lewistown. They did have a tour with Wild Rose in July up into Alberta for golf. Couldn't make it.
I don't think Greg's car is a Turbo. I believe that it is a 97 4s with a turbo body.
Went for a few laps in it. That is a beautiful machine.

Cary,

We can work on the car (oil cooler/tie rod kit) in the hobbyshop until they close.
Then we can take the gearbox over to my work (EOD shop) and work on it all night (while drinking tasty beverages) if we want.
I rebuilt my engine in our equipment bay last year so whats a gearbox or two!?? :D

I'll also have like 60 days of leave when I get home so I can take as many days off as we need.

Shoot me an email and we can discuss it further.

Btx, this is now hereby an open inventation to all!

Come on down to watch Cary and me completely destroy my gearbox! :)
