Heresy
I hate to admit it, but I need to make my car quieter....temporarily. Because of my schedule, my prime driving time is early morning on weekends, and late evenings. I currently have an '87 cab, 3.4, 993 HE, running a Gen 1 M&K 2 in 1 out muffler. Although I enjoy the sound, my wife and neighbors are not such big fans, especially give the time of day I run the car. I have emailed Ben at M&K and he said he could add some additional baffles in the muffler, but I think I need a more immediate fix. And actually, once I'm out the driveway and on the road, I like the current set up. Any thoughts?

I'll let you borrow my F150, nice and quiet, if you let me borrow the 911

I think you're best option is to go with the latest generation of Ben's muffler.

Have your wife and neighbors come live near me for awhile. After a week or so of a Viper V-10 with short glasspacks and a Ferrari 360 with a Capristo stage III exhaust leaving the neighborhood, they'll beg for the M&K.
![]() Actually, I'm very careful to idle out of the neighborhood. I figure it gives the oil a chance to warm up. Have you talked to your neighbors about it? My wife commented once on the noise of me leaving the garage. I told her that as soon as she stops blowdrying her hair and yapping on the phone while I try and relax, that I'll start pushing the cars/bikes to the end of the street. ![]()

Get a stock 2 in one out, or a darned quiet one. Drill a second hole in the opposite side, and cap it. Pop cap as needed for quick back pressure relief.
I'm not sure what a Monty sounds like, but I heard some muffs at LRP last week that were darned civil at low RPMs. |
