windshield gasket

Is thjere a front and rear gasket, I can install without the chrome sealer strips? Is this safe to do, I have heard you can install awire in its place, any comments? Thanks, Norm

None available I'm aware of. Yes you can install a filler where deco goes I don't know about "wire " but would think if same thickness as deco flange you should be GTG. As you seem to be aware you MUST have something in the groove or bye bye windshield at some point.

No , the trim actually holds the glass in the frame. You can replace it with newer style gasket, and glass that has no such trim/bead if you so desire. Use the search function, many posts about glass and trim.
