Anyone have a spare 3.2 Motronic?
Hi Guys my motronic in my 1989 3.2 Carrera is dead, I have had techs here try to fix it with no luck, it is a 911.618.111.20.
Does anyone know the difference between that DME and one #911.618.111.19? There is a wrecker here is Australia with one of them he says will work. |

Quick Google suggests the .19 part if for an early 3.2?

The .20 DME is an 87-89 unit used in the North America, Japan, Germany, Australia, New Zealand cars, and any cars that come equipped with a catalytic converter and O2 sensor on the lower compression 930/25 motors. The .19 unit will work in your car, but it is a 87-89 ROW DME that is for the higher compression 930/20 motors, but with fuel quality switch set to position 4 for low quality fuel, AND it is missing the O2 sensor circuitry for your car's O2 sensor. My recommendation is to send your unit in for a proper repair by someone that has had much prior experience repairing these Motronic units.

Thank you for that, unfortunately here in Australia there are not a lot of choices for repairs on these units, having said that, the shop I sent it to has done quite a bit of repair on Motronic and can't seem to fix this one. They have sent it back to me twice now with the same problem not fixed, no fuel injection working, spark is there and all other sensors seem to be working, the only other thing could be this DME has a powerchip that was in it when I purchased the car.

Bye the way, I am using 911.618.111.18 in it at the moment, any idea what that is out of? It is a loaner from my sparky, it runs the car, but base idle seems not quite right, and car feels down on power.

Why not have your repaired. If the shop that was working on it is not able to fix it you should look elsewhere.

Yes that is the problem, I think I may have to post it outside Australia for a repair, that is not a problem as I have a borrowed DME I can use for a few weeks.
