Horn wire
I have a 75 911s the horn does not work i have an after market steering wheel.
If i push the relay in it works, if i jump the push button at the steering wheel it does not. Does the black wire from the wheel push button go directly to the horn relay or is there a rotary pressure type pad contact in the steering wheel column? |

This is what it looks like
There is a brass ring under the steering wheel with a spring loaded contact. You will have to get the wheel off to check it out.
here is the ring on my 1973 911. ![]() The horn wire hooks to the back of this ring. Here is the contact in my MOMO steering wheel adapter. Your Porsche wheel will look similar. ![]() The spring loaded plunger stays in contact with the brass ring. The metal split washer spacer above the big spring is no longer there. I am now using one of Mitch Leland's wonderful pre-lubed plastic rings that are availabe here on this site. I am fully sponsored by Mitch......and it is a great part nonetheless!! Models of all oler Porsche bushings.

ok that must be where my problem is. Can i pull it apart and clean it or rebend the spring metal?
Once and a while the horn does work but not much. What size metric socket to pull wheel nut? Last edited by robotman; 06-13-2010 at 01:28 PM.. |
