Nitto tires

Anybody tried this brand of tires? They seem to offer a good selection in 17' with good reviews.

I have them on my street car - seem to be ok - PO had them installed end of 2007.
Never heard of them before these but seem to be fine - am paying attention to them just in case. Maybe 10K on them so far.

Where are these tires made, and by whom?

I just picked up a set of NT01 for the track, a number of people that have had them liked them. Seem to be better than the Kumhos that I had before.

I have a set of NT01's on the street. Very good dry traction. Noisy. Poor wet performance. I'm in Socal so the wet is not an issue for me and my car is noisy anyway so it's a good fit for me. I would buy them again, no problem.

pretty sure they are owned by Toyo. I've had a set of NT05 = next set will be NT01's - Excellent dry - not great wet - NT01's many use as replacements to the Toyo RA1's (supposed to be simliar compounds)

Many years ago, when they first started selling tires in America I bought a set of 505s. They followed the drainage lines in the highway pavement terribly. Passengers would comment on the weaving (it wasn't my driving).

Now I have a set of NT05s. Not as sticky/hardcore as the NT01s. I like the NT05s a lot. A bit better than the Hankook Ventus RS2s I had previously. I live in SoCal, so wet weather grip is not a concern of mine.

Nitto are a subsidiary of Toyo.

I've got NT01's on my track car for solosprint and really like them - great handling and very predictable - I'm sure Hoosiers would be faster, but these have held up like the old toyo RA1s at very reasonable cost. I'm on my second set right now and quite happy with them.

My understanding is that Toyo gave the old RA1 rubber compound to Nitto for the NT01 and then introduced the R888 as the new Toyo track tire.

If I needed a set of street tires, I'd go with the NT05 - the NT01 is a bit loud for daily driving IMO and the wet performance isn't great.

Regards,
Andrew M

The NT01s are apparently the same compound as the Toyo RA1s. They don't seem to cycle out and they have a much better life then the VictoRacers or Yokohama A048s.
The tread blocks are huge so it is just a step away from running gumballs in the rain but they don't get greasy like the A048s when hot.

Basically they have been the best R tire for hard street-track use I have found. The balance of the compromise has been good for what I am looking for.
It would be nice to have some of the old A032s for light to medium wet days but that is just another compromise...

Thanks for all the replies- keep them coming! Looks like I will order a set due to the positive responses. Prices are very reasonable for larger sizes ( 255/40/17 and 315/35/17) and they look pretty cool too.

Just got a set of Nitto NT555's in these exact sizes for my pseudo RSR.
Look like great tires at a great price.
