help with trans/ engine separation

I am attempting to separate a 71 911 engine and trans and am totally befuddled. I have searched and still cant get it. They are sitting on the trailer and out of the car but..... I removed the bolts holding the two together and it wiggles and pulls about a half inch. I have been searching for how to pull the clutch fork but have no idea! picks would be great but any help would be greatly appreciated Mark

You need to rotate the throwout bearing about 90 deg. through the little inspection hole. This will release it from the throwout fork, and it should basically fall apart after that.

Fastfred is correct. 70 and 71 required the throwout bearing to be turned 90° to free it from the fork, before you can remove the trans. pull on the fork arm so the fork moves toward the clutch and away from the bearing. turn the bearing with a screwdriver thru the hole in the top of the bellhousing.

It is still stuck. Do I need to pull the bearing closer to me (away from engine) with the clutch fork or let it sit (closer to the engine?) Do I have to beat the bearing one way or the other or either? I know this is supposed to be simple but I am on hour number 5
