Wires?

Does anyone know where I could find some new wires for my 73 911? In particular, I would like to rewire the taillights with stock duplicate wires. I have never seen a new, complete wiring harness for 73 911. Does anyone make them? Iam sure they would be really expensive...

Bill

A dealer or source of dealer parts may be able to get them; try Pelican. You need Porsche part no.:901.612.048.00 (same number for left and right tail lights; you'll need two, one for each side. These are the sections after the connectors to the main harness; I expect them to be around US$60 to 80.00 each. There are 20+ sections to the '73 complete wiring harness; some sections are apparently no longer available (such as the one to the fuel pump). I have obtained the two OEM '73 engine wiring harness sections (for a CIS engine) within the last year; they looked exactly like the originals down to the smallest detail. They were expensive. Jim

Cool

If you have a factory wiring diagram, it shows the correct colors for the wires. I would obtain a section of the wiring harness from a wreck. I doubt if there has been much change in relation to the wires you would need for your harness. This along with connectors would allow you to duplicate the original harness.

Good luck,
David Duffield

Hello

Big problem is to find the rubberconnectors so you have to reuse your old ones. The one rubberboot on the case can be rescued and reused.

Most color codes can be found in other german cars ( BMW, Mercedes, VW/Audi ) also Bosch, Hella, Würth and others have the wires on 25m rolls.

73 has some of the wires vertical coded. later cars and others longtitunal coded.

Grüsse

One note: the new OEM '73 T CIS Porsche engine wiring harness pieces I received came with all the correct color coding (including correct striping) rubber boots, gromments, sleeving, taping, lugs, etc. They were identical to the point it almost appeared the same person had made the original and the replacement 29 years later!Jim
