3.2 Starting Problem
 

A recently re-built 3.2 will not start. There is no spark at the central cap outlet. I
measured the fallowing:
coil terminal 15 - 12.5 v
" " 1 .35 v PtP on cranking ( my running 87 911 shows 3.5 v PtP
car running shows 5.5 ptp)
flywheel sensor outputs are 1.5 and 1.2 ptp on cranking for the re-built engine.
Question; is this a flywhell sensor failure problem or sensor gap problem?
or someting else completely. All input would be greatly appreciated!

Gotta drag up the old stand by....DME relay?

Do you get power to the DME (check for vibrating ICV with igition to ON)?
Can you verify the fuel pump is running while you crank?
Do you have fuel (smell gas at the tail pipe) after cranking for a while?

These are just some simple things to check before we go into details

With ingn. ON voltage at pi 18& 34 is 12.75, and it drops 10.5 on cranking.
Wrt fuel operation ,it operates when the key is in the ON position thru. fuse #6.
I failed to mention that this installation is into a1969 911 Targa.

Does the ICV oscillate? That is one good sign that the DME is actually alive and running code.

The fuel pump on a stock 3.2 is controlled by the DME throught the DME relay. It sounds like you did something different. Did this setup ever work? If not you need to start troubleshooting your installation. There is little that can be done online. Especially, if the 3.2 is not wired in like on a stock car.
