'83 SC Tune-up - Now it misses - HELP
I just replaced the plugs, distributor cap and rotor on my '83 SC and now it is running real rough? I went back and re-checked all the wires but no luck:confused: What should I check next? It was runing so good before I started - but it was due!

Like really rough? Double-check the firing order and that you snapped the plug wires all the way onto the spark plugs.

Exactly. If it's really rough, then I'd suspect you got some wires mixed up. Easy to do. Re-check the firing order and make sure the right wires are going to the right spark plugs., and that the spark plug connectors snap down onto the plugs.

Not really rough?
It seems like it is just missing occasionally - and it does not have to power it used to have? I just checked it with the lights out and I see a little arcing between wires going into the distributor cap? Could this be it?

arching is never good. sometimes they arc when the spark has nowhere else to go. path of least resistance. check wire condition and all cap and plug connectors for correct resistance. cap connectors are 1000 ohms, plug connectors are 3000-5000 ohms. pull plugs and check if one of the gaps got bumped closed.

Where did you buy your plugs? The reason why I am asking is, I had a friend who bought a set of plugs at one of the major discount chain stores. And it took him 3 sets, to get 8 that were all good. At least 1 or 2 out of each batch were bad. And these were name brand, I think NGK or Bosch.
