Will the Bosch 044 be suitable for 911SC?
I’m going to change my fuel pump on my 911SC to a Bosch 044 - has anyone done this specifically on the SC? Does it work OK? I know the pressure is both 5bar but the flow rate is higher - any problems with that?

Bosch FP-044.........
You will be fine with -044. I have been using a -044 in one of my CIS bench tester for many years as of today. The excess fuel will just recycle back to the gas tank. What is important is to obtain the system fuel pressure with sufficient excess fuel. You need at least 1 liter per 30 sec. flow rate. Test your FP for delivery pressure or flow rate.

I ran a 930 with a 911S pump, and upgraded to an 044 after a turbo upgrade.
You'll need a hose adapter (pretty sure TurboKraft stock these) and bigger ring terminals for the electrical connections (think they're both a size larger than the 911 pump); other than that, the 044 is pretty much a bolt-on swap.

I just installed one on my 1983 SC. On the pump I received (which I think is legit and not a Chinese knock-off), the studs for the terminals were different sizes, and so were the terminals for the original pump. Unfortunately, the sizes were reversed on the 044 vs new pump, so I wasn't paying attention and put the small ring terminal on the small stud, etc. Anyway, I ended up running my pump backwards and spending a couple hours chasing down the source before I consulted a wiring diagram.
I needed to slightly modify the factory wiring with the addition of a larger ring terminal, and I bought this part for the supply end of the pump: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0792GZ161/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Everything seems to work great, but I only have about a tank full of gas through it. |

You do know they are pretty loud right?

I had heard about them being loud, but I noticed no difference in my car. Run dry and in reverse, they are very loud. Hopefully I didn't cause too much damage...

One reason I replaced the original, 911S pump with 230K miles on it was that it was noisy. I replaced it with the 044. Sounded exactly the same.
It's well documented how to tell if you got a fake Chinese 044 instead of the real thing - which are better than the stock pump, and you can probably buy them for less, thanks to the volume they're produced in.

Yes, I watched the youtube videos and read a couple websites. I'm pretty sure mine is a real Bosch.
I did buy off of Amazon though, and after the fact another forum member let me know that Summit Racing will generally price match Amazon. I would be more inclined to trust Summit than Amazon acting as reseller. |
