I've a good idea....

Somebody may have done this already.... if so I would love to get the link... The idea is to compile a complete list of cross referenced parts off porsches....

Some bits are either hard to get, expensive or both... but the suggestion that was made to me about 2002 window winders fitting an early 911 made me realise there are probably other bits. I just changed my VDO bulb holders for beetle ones... just the same.

Comments Please

Best Regards

seems as if this is the perfect forum to start this initiative...I am CERTAIN that the old sages of the board already have numerous items they know work, between them and 'ol Roland I think we could quickly build an impressive archive:

Part Description Porsche Part# = VW/AUDI/MB part number

maybe this might help a bit. long ago when I had a couple 924's I would sit with my JC Whtiney and look up parts for the Porsche, then check the VW, Audi, MB, BMW lists and often would find the same part number as the Porsche part but at a cheaper price. As in $18 super beetle front shocks instead of $60 porsche shocks or $18 Rabbit injectors instead of $39 porsche injectors. Fuel pumps for $100 less, etc. etc. Same part number but different make, different price. might not be the same now as back then, but sure saved some cash long ago. Haven't tried this in years but as soon as the 911S needs something I'll cross-reference again.
Cause I'm just a poor man driving a rich man's toy.

OK Then... Here we go

I reckon that if you all put the word out I will keep checking for responses... I wil copy and paste them all for future reference then hopefully when we have a few we can decide on the best way of presenting this information. It has been done for many other vehicles in the past and it certainly helps when you are trying to be enthusiastic about something on a budget. I am fairly new to this site so I don't know who the main man gurus are.... but if you're out there - post your wisdom.
