Stone guards on a 77?

I am just wondering if anyone has seen or done this? I am thinking of putting therear stone guards on my 77 when I repaint, will this look stupid? I have never seen any of the early cars with it done?

Check out www.magbra.com, they make magnetic stone guards for 911's, at least this way you can take them off when you want to.
I have a set - they have already stopped one definate stone chip !!
