Door seals
If one's door seal is worn, might that be the cause for it not closing with that solid "thunk"? This is not a suddenly occurring thing to the best of my knowledge, as I noticed it on another 911. The door seal was basically worn out and it didn't have that same tight, sturdy feeling as mine and others I have experienced.

Yes. I replaced my door seals as they were a little beaten, instant difference.

What's involved in changing a door seal and about how long does it take?

Less than an hour if you are lucky. Remove old one, clean the door, install new one.
