Carrera 3.0 RS jpeg ???
Does anyone have a jpeg on the Carrera 3.0 RS road version M471 ? The white one with the blue script and wheels.
Page 48 in Peter Morgan's. Original Porsche 911. Thanks in advance for your help.

Cary, I've never seen a '74 RS in blue - only black or a dark red (Peru red?). Check with Dave at tre@earthlink.net for more info and maybe some pix. He sold his '74 RS this past year.
Good luck.

Aha! I was thinking of the white with blue livery ala the '73 RS. So I'm caught assuming again - darn!
BTW - were the other-than-white-with-colored-trim cars (such as the one posted by nick-moss) touring models only? Again, other than sponsors' livery, I'd not seen any but white. Just for the record, I'd be happy to have any one of them

Here's a '74 IROC Porsche (not white nor road version):

Hi Sherwood
I don't think that image is an IROC car. The 1974 IROC cars had the RS (turbo-look) bodies, fitted with RSR mechanicals. Your image is a full RSR with the wider fenders and air ducts. In fact it is the RSR of Jacques Bienvenue and Ludwig Heimrath at the Watkins Glen 6 hour race of 1976 I am looking for pictures of IROC cars now. I know there are very good ones in John Starkey's R-RSR book, of which I don't have a copy. Here's one of the cars before the tea-tray spoliers were fitted.

Sorry was on the road all day.........
Nick ......been to your site before. Great stuff. That's where I decided I'm not moving my oil cooler till I have to. It would be MUCH cheaper to buy the $800 B&B than do all that cutting and pasteing. The one I'm looking for is like the ones that freefly posted. But its in the same livery as the 73 RS. White/RS Blue. You guys are going to make me break down and buy a scanner. rscupper........That's the one I'm looking for. Don't quote me on the numbers. But some thing like 106 built. I think some of those became the IROC cars. Don't have my book here. The gold one that freefly posted in my wallpaper. The factory B&W one is the most common one. But the one in Peter Morgan's book is a closer and side view. And in the White with RS Blue. Does any one have the "RS' blue paint code ?

Cary, blue RS stripe/wheel color is Mexico Blue.
Nick, here's a couple of IROC RSRs at Monterey in '98. Second shot is Jurgen Barth's own C4RS Lightweight at this event.

Thanks.....Randy. I'll store that in the memory bank. Don't need it till I find a pair of 8*16 Fuchs for the rear.
Nick, I'm no collector. I'm a driver. I have a 90 degree corner on my gravel driveway that needs an occasional hand brake turn. So my driver is what I need. Would rather have 3-5 drivers, rather one collector car. One of those "to each his own" deals. My admiration for the marque is about 35 years old. I'm from the school that believes that some of those cars belong in a museum. For everyone to enjoy for generations to come. Plus, I like taking it apart and putting it back together. I broke down today and bought a scanner. So when I get home next week I'll post the picture from the book.

Cary
and I ordered the Peter Morgan book from Amazon, let's see who get's it scanned first. I'm interested in seeing this white and blue scheme on a 3.0 as I've only seen it on 2.7's before. I see that you are looking for 8" rims for the back of the car, the original cars had 8" front and 9" rears, which are hard to get hold of in 16 diameter, let alone 15" (up to $2000 a pair!). My car is being built as a driving car too, it will probably never see a show or owners meet, just track days and regularity tours, |

Nick, I don't want change the fenders right now. I have 7 & 8 BBS right now. I like the foot print it has. I'm thinking of having them redone in Mexico Blue, for my track tires after my search for Fuchs is complete. The 7*16's are easy. Missed a pair of eights last week. Spend too much time here on the board and not searching the ads. LOL .......
And right now, I'm a bone stock 3.2. I wouldn't want to hang the extra weight on the drive shafts until I have 250hp. And where I'm located. It's mainly autocross. Maybe 2-3 track days. But, next fall SSI's and a custom chip built by Rennsport Systems. I think Peter Morgan's book was written in the UK. You'll enjoy it. Has all the differences and changes between the years. With their codes. Plus engine and gear box serial numbers. And it has some info on the special additions of each year/style. It is split by engine size.

"Hi Sherwood,

After seeing Randy's IROC pics of Monterey in '98 I remember the IROC versions had the driver's name on the door; the car in my photo doesn't. However the pic on my site was not taken at Watkins Glen, but Riverside, probably the same year ('76). I'll revise the photo caption.
