CIS to EFI Conversion Information
Hi guys, although this does not relate to me or my particular car, I do remember a thread recently that was discussing various CIS to EFI conversions.

Okay, you have my attention too! I am wondering how this compares to the 3.2 manifold and Haltech or ?? system. I have to admit the plumbing for the intercooler looks top notch. $$$?

Haltech (or SDS) + 3.2 manifold is probably better than this setup. 930 engines are "downtuned" by strangulation of intake ports to 27mm in order to boost gas speed and thus raise low-RPM torque. 930 heads ported to 32mm and properly mached with 3.2 intake probably flow better than original setup and should deliver better torque.Unfortunately it's lot's of work. This system looks much more bolt-on. I'm just a bit puzzled with dyno-graph saying that original 930 delivers 206 WHP (Dynamic WHP??). I also mailed asking for price...In my eyes, Stage I shouldn't be more expensive than 2000$. Is Stage I incuding both fuel and ignition ECU? I couldn't figure it out from sketchy info on the page. Let's check the price, I'm interested in group buy too... |
206 shouldn't be too far off for rear wheel hp. With a 15 percent driveline loss, that comes to about 240 hp at the crank. Stock US spec 1976 turbos are supposed to make 245 DIN, although I've heard as little as 234 net.
Flying in the face of all this, I was pretty familiar with a 76 turbo for some time and it seemed only the exhaust was changed, not to a performance model, just the thermal reactors were changed to something more euro. So I would think the car would make 260 at the crank, like the euro models. I had it dynoed, and it made 243 at the wheels which translates to 285 crank hp. Go figure. |
I'll need to know how much power the system can support.
My present mods (with CIS) should be upward of 350HP at the crank. I wouldn't think this to be a problem. Looks like a good system. My view is that the 3.2 intake is not a necessary mod for a 930. The standard CIS intake manifold supports the same 400+HP that the CIS is capable of delivering. |

This is a EFI setup with variable FRP. As long as injectors are >350cm^3/min , this system should be good for >450HP @ 1:12 lambda...all this @ 3 bar system pressure. So i don't think it's a issue unless they fitted it with really small injectors which i doubt... That's one more question that needs to be asked ... how big are injectors? |

The reason this option looks appealing is that you don't have to use the carrera intake, why not get a motec or sds and just use the stock intake and put the injectors in the stock holes like that kit, BTW i didn't get a responce from them either, I WANT EFI, but am on a budget, i would to find a cheap way to put efi on.
