Primer Question

I recently stripped my 73 down to bare metal using Aircraft Stripper and a lot of sanding and hard work. Anyway, since I don't have a garage, I applied spray can primer to the entire car one section at a time to prevent "flash rusting." I was told that I should have been using an Epoxy Primer to cover the bare metal prior to using regular primer.

My question then is, when I take the car to the body shop to get it painted, will they remove the spray can primer, then apply Epoxy primer, then re-primer before the paint process? Thanks for your thoughts...

If you dont ask them to strip the primer they may just prep sand it . I dont see how they can warranty their paint work if they dont remove the spray can primer. I would ask them to strip the primer first (for extra cost I would assume) and they will usually lay down a coat of self etching primer then hit it with high build primer it may be epoxy, depends who's products their using....TargaEuro

spraycan primer is porous. it does not protect the metal from moisture. i would strip it again and apply DP 90 to the bare metal.
