Convertable top problems

Would any one know what the sequence of operation is for a electric convertable top. I closed my top this morning and it closed fine, but when I went to open it, it unlatched but will not fold down. Then closed the Top and the open top Light stays on.I have been having some problems with the Passenger Side Latch Motor but nothing like this, it almost seems that a switch is not making causing the top not to complete its cycle.

Any help would be great.........

How did this resolve?

Can I ask if you ever resolved this issue?
I am having the same issue.

Thanks
Sue

Sue - Lots of threads on this topic, can you elaborate on your symptoms? What exactly is happening?

If the latches unlatch from the top of the windshield, but the top itself does not start to open, that means that either:

the microswitches that indicate that the top is unlatched are not working, so the brain doesnt know to start opening the top

if the top starts to move, then its likely that the brain is fine, but the side mechanisms that open the top are frozen (this is what happened to me)

or the brain itself is not working, so the coordination of the microswitches and motors is not taking place (this is generally less common)

If the top is moving back crookedly, then the side mechanisms (called transmissions) are out of synch and its likely that one of them is frozen

While you are at it, remove the 2 side rear covers to the gear boxes.
Make sure all the bolts securing the gear boxes to their mounts are snug.
When they get lose the 'timing' will be off, the roof twists and you can break
the rear top cross over support, and have other issues as well.

I have a CD and manual around somewhere
