speedometer help needed

Hi everyone
I have been driving the car ( '75 911S ) around the block to make sure that everything is working properly ( before I actually get the car registered). Real long story for another time.
The odometer is working but the speedometer is not. Is there something that I can check. I pulled the speedometer cable out of the back the unit and took it for a ride.... the cable seems to be fine and spins freely. Thanks

Its sounds like a cog in the speedo has lost a tooth. They are quite soft and can break with time. Its not a major problem and some who are technically orientated have repaired them themselves. I had a similar problem but sent it away. The fix cost me I think about 80USD/60Euro
