964 Crankshaft Pulley Assembly
Not 100% sure what forum this should be in, but as most of the brains are here - this is a good starting point.
Along with a load of other parts, I disassembled the crankshaft pulley assembly on my 964 transplant engine for cleaning and plating. Here is a picture of the three main parts of the assembly. ![]() As a stupid person, I assumed that the assembly could only get put back together in one way to ensure that the TDC Z1 mark would end up in the correct place - this I have now discovered is not true, and I am stuck ![]() The first part of the assembly (left hand side in my picture), has a small locating pin in it so that is no problem. But the main pulley (with the Z1 mark) and the harmonic balancer, does not have any locating pins - so they can line up to any of the small 10 mounting holes!!! Is there any markings on the pulley that should align with something on the assembly?

You can turn engine to TDC then install pulley. Line up with distributer and/or by pulling plug on #1
