Head lamp removal help needed
I was trying to remove my headlamp on my Euro 83SC to access the screw which is holding the horn attachment bracket in the front fender well. So I removed the one screw holding the ring piece that goes around the headlamp, and easily removed that. Now there are two screws (not tree or four as described in Wayne's book) which go into the black trimming which was underneath the ring I removed. So I start unscrewing these and they just turn and turn without loosening the head lamp. I'm stumped. There are no other exposed screws. Is the headlamp just supposed to be pried out after removal of the outer ring?

Look at the hole that the outer trim ring screw was screwed into. You need to use a GOOD flat blade screwdriver and remove that.
You can then tilt the headlight out a bit and then up and it should come right off. There is a sort of lip that the top part of the headlight sits on. Be careful as the headlight is easy to drop once it is disconnected. Help! H4 will not close down with new seal (with pics)

Thanks, I never realized I had the H4 lamps so the instructions I was following were wrong. Yes, I saw that the threaded hole which the out ring screw goes into is actually another flathead screw and holds the whole assembly.
Unfortunately, in the process of turning and turning those other two screws (which I assume are for aiming), I broke one of the little plastic pieces that they screw into and which move the assembly, but I think I can fix that with some glue. |
