'75 and '76 'pre muffler' exhaust systems

Okay, so while I'm waiting on my oil cooler, I've got another stupid question of the day.

I know the SSI's (or at least the backdated exchangers and a 2 in muffler) are the way to go on the later 70's 911's. Especially those with thermal reactors. I do have a backdated system right now however it's hodge podged together. One side is a true SSI but the left side is a rat that I've patch welded up and the best steel left on it is probably my welds. The muffler leaves little to be desired too, major crush area in it, etc. However it is at least stainless, has no rust and seems to still work well.

Anyway, I have a complete factory pre-muffler style system sitting on the shelve that is in darn near perfect condition. The pre-muffler seems to have had the baffles removed.

I'm clueless as to my pro's and con's here at this point in time. I can't afford the new backdated components at this point to clean up the current exhaust. Should I use the pre-muffler system for the time being? Is the complete premuffler system even worth anything for possible sale or to trade for a decent left side exchanger??

I've um. . . exhausted my search for info on this both here at PP forums and abroad. I'm going to have to make a decision on this before I can set the engine to t-stat line on my cooler up.

I'm sure performance wise things can suffer. But would using the pre-muffler system generate all the heat back that I'm trying to shed??

Sell the "darn near perfect" factory exhaust with the pre-muffler and buy an SSI to replace your "rat". That's what I'd do.

To answer your question, though, the "premuffler" system won't generate any excess heat.
