Shane's Roadtrip 2010
Must be the season for roadtrips. I have one of my own coming up and this one was a bit unplanned. I have to be in Salem, VA for 3 weeks on business with free weekends. That is a beautiful area. Also just a few hours from DC, Charlotte or Raliegh, NC. So basically, I am driving up 7/25 , leaving early in the morning from Jackson, TN. This may not be the route I take, but basically, here is where I am going:
Maybe I will try this stretch of highway out: http://www.motorcycleroads.us/roads/va42.html Looking for suggestions of roads to try in the area or even within a 4-5 hour drive of Salem. Also, would be fun to meet some Pelicans on the trip. My routes are fairly open at this point and I have a couple of weeks left to plan this out. I will be there from 7/25 through 8/13. So driving home on 8/13 and 8/14. But like I said, I have my weekends free and could drive to DC, Raliegh or Charlotte areas. I will see if one of my daughters will allow dad to use one of their cameras for the trip instead of my crappy cell phone cam.

I'd head right into the Smokies at Fontana NC which is right next to the Dragon's Tail
find a bread and bkfst and stay in the mts as long as possible

Haha! I thought you might appreciate that. I just wouldn't want you to be without your car for that long again. I can't imagine going through what you had to deal with out there. Enjoy your trip!
