cis to efi (my web page)

Folks,

I started a web page to log my progress with the CIS to EFI conversion. The web page is:

http://www.geocities.com/tbitz/cis_to_efi.html

The first log entry shows how I modified the intake runner to accept the EFI injector.

Looks like a great project. keep us posted.

How did you choose those injectors?

tbitz 12-28-2001 06:30 AM

Clark,

The injectors came from a 3.1L V6 Corsica. I could not find the flow rate for them on the net, but since the engines are almost a match I think they should work fine.

You might want to investigate that one a little further. True enough the Corsica has similar displacement, but it surely was not designed to produce the same amount of power. Hence it might have a flow rate that is substantially less than you want, which would cap the engine's power potential.

I'd want to be really sure before getting to far into this.

How much would you charge for a set of those trick little metal adapters you made? Would they fit most EFI injector types?
Thanks for posting this. I'd like to see how this comes along as I'm also contemplating the Megasquirt unit.

tbitz if you actually get the 911 to run with this low buck EFI system you will be bucking for "King of the Pelican DIY'ers".

If that is the test, I think "stlrj" has already claimed the crown.

See his posts on the other CIS-EFI thread starting on page 2: http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=10077

No doubt emcon5,

I don't want to take anything away from those guys either, like natchamp. I just said tbitz was in the running. We should have a poll on who is the champion DIYer. In order to be in the running you've got to be over the top. Not just simple engine rebuilding.

RarlyL8, I am not ready to produce parts for others. The adaptors were designed to fit the "Rochester type" fuel injectors I got from the Corsica.

As for the flow rate, I don't have the flow numbers for them. The part number is 17084888. If you know the flow rate send me an email. I think 19-20lb/hr is what I need. If these injectors are too small, I will know because the pulse widths will hit 100% when the ECU tries to keep the right fuel mixture.

I am definetly not the first to do this. In fact the "stlrj" post mentioned above motivated me to try this.

I am now trying to clean these injectors, because the spray does not look too good on some of them. I am taking apart my wifes humidifier as it has an ultrasonic unit. Hopefully this will help clean them. Anyone have any thoughs on how else to clean these? I've left them overnight in carb cleaner. It didn't seem to make any difference.

I'd head back to the boneyard and pick up a second set of injectors. Maybe between the two set you can find 6 good ones.
