Question for Valentine 1 owners. Window tint?

Looking at picking up one of these. I have metallic window tint and am looking for performance comments from V1 owners with tinted windows. Thanks.

I have ceramic film in mine and I experience no obvious issues.

I don't know how much the tint would block, but I suspect not enough to reduce the effectiveness of the detector from receiving signal from behind (or sides, which really is a mixture of rear and front). I use mine as well in my work van which has a safety bulkhead behind the seats with a metal grill window, usually a bunch of crap loaded in the way, limited window size in back and often dirty rear windows. It still picks up stuff behind.

Nice looking car, by the way. That colour looks very good.

I have tinted windows in the rear. People often mount the V1 high on the front windshield where it goes through the tint at the top.

I contacted the company who said that the best place to mount it was just below the rear-view mirror so it was out of the front tinting and low enough to "see" backwards below the rearward sloping roof. While having it higher or using it with a tinted window isn't ideal, they said it was essentially fine. I ran two of them in various locations in the car and couldn't really tell a difference in day to day use.

I would ask Mike Valentine.....spoken with him many times over the years, call him. Ask the guy that designed it...............his number is on the website.

If you have, as you say METALLIC tint, it will compromise it to a large degree.

Even regular tint will cut the distance somewhat.

...see my post above!

I'll paraphrase:

tint not the best, but ok
911 mounting best as high as possible in the windshield while still viewing out the back, ie right below the rear view mirror, dead center

But did you tell Mike that it was METALLIC tint?

Makes a BIG difference.

If you just said 'tint' like you have in your posts, it doesn't count.
