Seeking Technical "Advisor" in NY Metro Area

Hey all -

I am in the process of refreshing my transmission (work completed today by Gary Fairbanks), installing a new clutch, cleaning up the engine, replacing various hoses, and then reinstalling my engine.

I have a very mechanical friend helping - who has a lot of BMW experience - but minimal Porsche experience.

I am looking for someone around the NY Metro area to come by and provide advice, direction, double checks on my work, etc.

Hoping someone will help out for the love of Porsches! but am open to ideas.

Let me know if you are interested in helping out - or know someone.

Hoping to get back on the road by mid-July!!!!!

Jonathan

Car is 1984 911 Targa.

I am also documenting the work using Google Wave - and can use to communicate as I proceed!

I wish I could help...but while all the same items are on my list I haven't had the time to get to them yet. So I don't have any experience with that stuff...as of yet.

Good luck.

I'd like to see where people work on their own cars in metro NY.

Sorry, I can't help, but I usually get by well when I have a Bentley and a Haynes open What one confuses you on the other clarifies.

I am also going to reach out to my local PCA - but keep coming with the replies!

I have been doing pretty well on my own and with a friend's help - but feel like I just don't have a solid feel for many of the engine components (yet.)

As far as work space - I am one of the "lucky" few in NYC with a 2.5 car garage and a driveway.

I actually rent out 2 spaces (one inside and one outside) to help supplement my mortgage. And fortunately my garage tenant has 3 BMWs - 2 x 2002 tii and an M. AND he knows a lot about cars.
