Is the dash vinyl or leather?
If leather, there are a couple of people on this board who have done this before. Jack Olsen is one of them [Jack is a bona fide Pelican stud]. If vinyl, which is what the great majority are, it might just be looking like a dry lake bed. If it is badly cracked, the best route is replacement. Two choices here - you can look around for a used dash in decent shape, or lay out the bones for a new replacement. Pelican stocks them. There is a good tech thread on dash R&R at http://www.pelicanparts.com/ultimate/Forum3/HTML/010156.html

Check out the prices & service from all sources you can find. Definitely check with Pelican Parts. It's not worth the time to try to wait around for a good used one. Even after you buy it, it's still a used one, & it will still cost a decent amount. Another source for getting your current dash rebuilt is Just Dashes. They're on line at
