swb c of a question

Is it normal for a 1968 U.S. 911L certificate of authenticity to have only Dunlop tires as an option? Euro models maybe but U.S. ? All the other numbers and codes match. Thanks

I recall Semperet being the standard for USA and Dunlap being optional for ’68 models. I don’t recall any USA cars OE with Michelin X although dealers fitted many.

Remember, this was the first year of Porsche attempting to deal with Federal regulations for safety and emissions while still using all the importers prior to the contract with VoA that created P+A. Lots of confusion.

Best,
Grady

Grady, thanks.
Actually my question concerned the options section of my certificate of authenticity. The only option listed for my car is Dunlop tires. I have seen other certificates for 911L's and I'm sure my car came through with more than 165 Dunlops as an option.

I just got back from looking at a '67 that had a date coded '69 steelie spare. It had a Michelin X tire on it that I'd swear was original. Even made in France.
