How much brake fluid to do a flush

Hi, I'm getting ready to do my first brake flush. Still need to get a pressure bleeder but was wondering how many liters of brake fluid should I buy. I'd rather be on the safe side.

Thanks guys,

1 liter should be plenty.

buy two litres and if you don't use one of them, you have the extra for next year. If you need more, you got it right there.

Might as well do the clutch at the same time.

I would always get more than you need... I some how have managed on several occasions to have some of it end up on the floor. Pilot error... One time I un-did the pinch line on the over flow before releasing the air pressure on the bleeder can, just dumb mistakes, but when you don't do this all the time you can make dumb mistakes.

However the 1 liter can should be enough. The blue/gold is a good way to go...

Using a pressure bleeder invariably leads to more BF needed than required.

Agreed with one liter... i did a complete brake replacement over the Winter and used one liter of Ate blue !
Pick up two liters to be on the safe side if you use a Motive bleeder.
Don't forget to bleed your clutch slave cylinder above the gearbox !!!

Cheers

I just did it after I replaced all of my wheel calipers and rubber lines and I used 1 1/2 qts of Castrol with a Motive pressure bleeder.

Now would be a good time to change the rubber lines if it's never been done.

New lines on a boxster, and bleeding the clutch took a little more than 1 liter.
