Targa Top Question
What it this thing mounted at the joint of one of the Targa top's folding crossbars? Looks like a nut of some sort, maybe to adjust the tension on this joint; but this one doesn't budge, no matter what I do to it. Thoughts? And thanks in advance. (Yep, I did a search, but hampered perhaps by lack of a name for this part, I got no result.)

I think it just keeps the center of the top from raising in the wind, does the same thing, almos,t as the 2 locating pins on either side of the top.Thats what I THINK

It's the rear center pin. Unfold the top.
Later cars (after '74 or so, I think) had 3 pins on the rear of the top, with 3 sockets in the front face of the targa bar for them to plug into. You can turn it 90 or 180 degrees if you have an earlier car so it doesn't interfere. As I recall, it's easier to turn when the top is unfolded. Mine was difficult to turn, but it would turn. Yours looks like it's turned 90 degrees. Last edited by tcar; 07-24-2010 at 06:46 PM.. |
