WEBASTO heater help and advise.
Guys, I am moving to colder weather soon and have put the Webasto heater back on my list of To-Dos again. I have headers and don't really care to go back to heat exchangers, flapper boxes and such. Plus I think that I will end up needing more heat than that anyway!
I have a 71' that is unmolested and I would like to have a mostly original Webasto set-up, the problem is that I cant seem to round up all the goodies. The item that seems the most difficult to find is the ignition unit. Where I am confused is between the early and late systems and how they work. I have the parts lists but not the wire diagrams, maintenance info and functionality info. Does anybody have this info to share with me? Also is there a work around for the ignition if I cant find it, ie.. from another car or similar? I have the red burner unit, the resister, and the original switch. I have located the mixer/pump unit. From my understanding I need the main pump, wire harness and the igniter box as well as the exhaust system which I have seen available as a reproduction. Thanks for your help in advance!! What I have is pictured below... ![]()

I have the information from the factory manuals. PM me to discuss. Too much to post in this thread. There is information on how to convert the glow plug to a transistorized ignition. No idea if parts are available.
