Anyone installed convertible canvas top? Or at least the rear piece?

One of my options is to replacing the rear area, pic below (I hope the owner of the pic doesn't mind I am posting it here). Another option is to replace the whole canvas top from ebay or local shop. Has anyone replace the canvas top before?

My question is how hard is it to replace just the rear area (pic below)? I wonder if I can DIY or I need to take it to the pro/shop?
Thanks.

When I got the car, the back window was split. A shop was going to charge me $300. That involved removing the back end, so it should not be to hard, as in just removing all the "snap stud anchors" around the base.

I fix it the cheap way, Velcro and canvas, $5.00... and the help for my wife for the sowing.

Put the rest of the money on a SW Chip, Holly Caca Batman that was worth it.

and it look professional may I add (the pics does not show the canvas stripe that goes on top of the Velcro) :D:D:D

IF you want your rag top to look right, it's a PITA to get it all tight and wrinkle-free; lots of tedious stretching/gluing, experimenting and then doing it all over again. If you have the patience and time (2-3 days in my estimate), it can eventually be done right; if you want it right and dont have either, then pony up the $$$ for a professional. If you just replace the rear section, you're likely to end up with different color shades between the 2 sections. It's your call though!!

rnln,

there is a long-lost thread on this site where a Pelican replaced his entire top, with about 4-5 pages of pictures of his progress...from start to finish. It's an excellent writeup, I wish I would've bookmarked it. I can't seem to find it anywhere now.

Sometimes, the "search" button is not always your best friend.

it has not been my best friend for several days now :)

I think this is the thread you need.

I am a die hard DIY'er but I am inclined to agree with you when I get ready to do my roof I will take it to someone who has done it.

Stone

I've seen it too and you think I could find it now through "search" :(:(

I'll go through all my subscription to see if I subscribed??? If I did not, I'll be :mad:, what was I thinking, this roof is from October 1982 :D:D

Since I got caught tonight with the top down in the rain... Had to put it up (wife was yapping at me) :D:D: and it still up, so I'll take some pics in daylight.
