Alternative to Sport Seats!

I just got my new seats installed. I couldn't afford sport seats, so went with some Recaro's from an old BMW. I had them recovered in houndstooth and black vinyl, and had the back seats done to match. Not exactly OEM, but I think they came out pretty good. Take a look...

Sweet!!

Did you use the Porsche sliders or have to modify them at all?

I used Recaro sliders with brackets from Wedge Engineering. Bolted right in...well almost except for the one bolt I cross-threaded and had to re-tap. There's always something...

Nice looking seats. Can't wait to see them at the next AX.

What did you have to pay for those "old" BMW seats? Very nice, by the way.

Marv, they were $1050 for the pair, plus the sliders. An extra $175 did the back seats.

Great deal. Congrats.
Before I started getting involved much in redoing the interior of cars (which I don't do much of actually), I really didn't buy any seats and didn't think much about whether they were expensive or not. I wanted to get a set of Recaro sport seats for my '69 to replace the seats in there. I bought a pair on Ebay for $750 plus whatever the shipping was at the time, thinking that those seats were really expensive. I bought them because I wanted the pair and there weren't too many coming up at the time. This was in the late '90s. When the seats arrived, they were in really good condition, although I was going to have them recovered. I look back now and am amazed at the good deal I got. A lot of things have sky rocketed in value.
