Question Online price guide?

Have any of you run across an online price guide for Porsche. I am leaning towards buying a 79-83 SC, but have found a local 1972, 911T. It looks good, has webers instead of injection, and appears to be well maintained and in good shape. On a scale of 1 to 5 with 1 being a show car, this looks like a #3, a good driver. Since this is an earlier car than I really want. I don't want to pay over-market. Any ideas on value...approximate? The asking price is $7500

Wanna sell your boss mustang ?

Any 911 with a solid chassis and minimum to no accident history and looks and runs and drives great is worth that.

I would do a search on Ebay for completed auctions on 911T's for the last 30 days. $7500 for a "Driver" T sounds a little high. But it also depends on location, miles, PPI, etc.

You might also want to check on what SC's are going for. Early ones seem to be going for less then $10K some times. But I've never looked at one personally.

Good Luck.

70boss,
Is it a Coupe or Targa? A Targa, people say, is worth 10 - 15% less than a Coupe.
Assuming all is well with the car - and if its a coupe - that sounds about right, maybe a Coupe would be a bit more, really. This is considering the time of year etc. In Summer, maybe a little more.
Ebay is kind of as cheap as you'll consistently see, as cars could be bought unseen, originality unchecked, many, many risk are involved - maybe it will be a fine car, but probably will be a project. By this I mean the kind of Ts you see around $5,000+ on Ebay.
As regards early cars, my first 911 was a 2.7 Targa (impact bumper car). I really wanted a pre '73 but the 2.7 was the right car to buy at the time as I knew it well. Now I have a pre '73 2.4 T (albeit a much slower than the '75). I'm really in love with its look. The chrome, the really beautiful front end...ahh....! Well, my point is, they are beautiful looking cars - as is the SC, but the pre '73 is just so pure looking. Be prepared for the T to feel slower than an SC (if the T is standard) and also be prepared for it to be beautiful and handle very crisply!
Give us more info on the T and good luck....

The car is a coupe. It is red, with a very nice black interior. The original fuel injection has been replaced by Webers. Normally I buy a classic mustang convertible for the summer, but this year it will be a 911. I have a 63 mile one way commute to work thruogh the rolling countryside of south west Wisconsin. Power is not the main concern, reliability, and "fun to drive" are what I am looking for. Thanks for the opinions, keep them coming.

Thanks,

Rob

Be patient .... the car your talking about is a very very different animal than what you started out looking for. Not necessarily better or worse just very different.

I had a fairly recent Bruce Andersen price update around here somewhere, I'll find it and shoot you a note later this morning.
