"hardest nut to find in 911"
Ok I just took off my knee pad rolls. There is one 8mm nut on the far left side. Deep in the corner. It took me 30 minutes or more to get this off. It has to be the hardest one to access.
Any others? Shawn

Nope, I think you found it. That nut on the knee pad has to be the absolute worst. Design a specialized tool to access that one nut and I suspect the Porsche community will beat a path to your door.

What about the dashboard pad holding nuts? I'm thinking about the last one on the right side...

Critter. The knee pad rolls are the pads under the dash where your knees go. Not sure if that is the right term or not but sounds good to me
![]() George I don't know of the dash ones YET, I will be leaving my dash tan until next year when I do a total repaint. Then the windshield will be out anyways. I know it'll look dumb for one year, black interior except tan dash Shawn

That knee bar nut is definitely one of the hardest. Here are a few other contenders:
A couple of the dash mounting nuts. Any of the rear alternator shroud nuts. Right side (rear fender well) Targa bar/ hoop cover nuts. Exterior front fender mounting nuts (top rear, closest to door). Turn signal/parking light assembly mounting nuts. Rear bumperette mounting nuts. |

I don't know, Shawn? Those four nuts holding on the Targa bar 'skin' are pretty hard when covered in undercoating ... way up there under the rear fenders!!!

That leftmost kneepad nut really got me boiling. I think it was designed by a guy with 8" long quadruple U-jointed fingers.
After quite a while of swearing and skinned knuckles I finally just tore the hell out of the kneepad and cut off the stud (hacksaw). I was replacing a bad pad so fortunately this wasn't a problem.

Although it has been many years, I remember the bolts that hold on the engine mounted oil cooler are a real ***** (engine in the car).
My '77 has that knee pad nut just barely hanging on. Mildly finger tight.
