Buru Plug Connectors

Is there a difference between the brown and black Buru spark plug connectors? I went through 5 black ones in the past year. BTW they were less than a year old. I also noticed that the brown ones measure less resistance. What gives.

Kevin,

The brown, right-angle Beru connectors were the OEM connector from '68/'69 until the end of Type 911/83 MFI 2.7 engine production in late 1975, and the specified resistance was 3000 Ohms +/- 10%. All replacements with the 901.609.306.00 part number that I have seen are brown and measure the specified 3K Ohms.

Did the black connectors you have gotten come with Porche OEM supply system markings, or were they strictly aftermarket? Or, were they the CIS-type that require the crimped-on , threaded ends be installed on the wire ends? I have heard that those connectors measure 4K Ohms.

Warren,
I can't seem to find a part # on either connector, only Buru name. The set I purchased was for a 69-73 911 from Vertex Auto. They are suppose to be OEM supplier but who knows. I attached an ohmeter on each end of the connector, then tapped the buru connector with my finger and watched the #'s flucuate. Anyhow I installed my old brown connectors on the 7mm wires and is miss free once again.

I bought a set of wires in September and last week 4 of the 6 black OEM marked Berus tested intermittent. I am guessing there is a quality control problem somewhere.
