Searched but have a simple question re: backdated heat without footwell blowers

I've backdated heat on my '87 and eleminated the rear blower. Can I remove the footwell blowers and get a slight amount of cabin heat by just lifting the center levers to open flappers? I realize without the blowers/ducting I won' get defrost at the dash. Just looking for a little heat to knock chill out of cabin on those rare chilly winter mornings in the deep south.

In my 82 that's how it works for me.

My 930 never had a rear blower and I removed the footwell blowers because they weren't working. I also left off the trim panels in the footwell that covered the blowers and removed the ducts that they attached to. So basically my heater is just the exchangers on the headers and the tubes running under the door. It works but it is marginal at best. As long as the engine is spun up (3000rpm+) I get heat but at cruise and idle I am cold. I also have no defroster.

I think I may try something else this winter. I want to try out one of these motors to replace the footwell blowers but they are expensive for an experiment.

Unless you've "rigged" the front blowers w/ a resisitor, etc. they're not functioning without the rear blower anyways and are reducing the flow of air "as is", so removing them will actually help. All of mine have been long gone and I still have plenty of heat. In fact, this thread reminded me that I've had my passenger side blocked with a tennis ball can cap for a few years now and need to address the passenger flapper box that I assume is stuck "open"...so I've actually been OK with just "free air flow" on the drivers side only.

You can easily find blowers/fans in rallye accessories shop .

(in France Oreca or GT2I)

Used for refreshing the car inside .

That costs 39 euros.

Thanks, guys for your input. Just the info I was looking for as all the threads I searched dealt more with adding Carrera style footwell blowers to pre-84 cars. About the only time I need heat is in February after getting waterlogged from being outside in the rain.

I know I can do the jumper on the relay in the engine bay to get power to the fans since I've eleminated engione blower. Just trying to simplify my car. n I'm keeping all the parts of the systems (heat and a/c) so I can restore to original when it becomes a priceless collectible:rolleyes::D
