993 power seat install question
 

after months of waiting i finally had the new-to-me 993 power seats dyed and ready for install. the passenger side was 4-way with manual front/back and the installation was simple, including the bk fire extinguisher mount. the driver's side is where i ran into problems.

it is an 8-way seat and all the buttons work, but the front/back setup seems to be missing some cables. all the motors have the same outer plastic sleeves and an inner steel cable. the front/back only has the sleeves, no cables inside. the motor makes noise and looks like it is moving however there is nothing attached to it to move the actual seat. has anyone ever seen something like this? i did a search of our host and found this item which in the picture shows the plastic piece and the metal insert but i am not sure if this is the one i need (well i will need 2 of them i guess).

These look like what you need. Not usual for these to get buggered up and need replacement. Taking them out before selling is not very nice! But the install is easy, just make sure they are well seated. Are the clips to hold the plastic sleeve still in place? Make sure both sides are equally advanced (i.e. the seat is sitting square when installed).

although they are not in this pic i do have the speedclip-looking clips that hold the plastic outer part in place. any idea about how this cable installs? i looked down as much as i could but i could not see any way of attaching it to the inside of the threaded rod.

Install:

Center rails.
Insert Cable inside housing.
Install small end of cable housing and cable first, make sure the cable is firmly inserted into the seat threaded rod.
Install cable to drive motor, again seating well! Then slip plastic sleeve over, and install retaining clip
Repeat for other side
Test carefully
