Is there a way to salvage my whale tale's rubber lip???

Hi all,

I have a factory whale tail on my '78 SC, and I've noticed it's starting to come apart from the glass fibre portion of the tail. Upon further examination, I've discovered that some of the metal inside the rubber lip has rusted and crumbled. I don't want to fork out hundreds to replace the rubber lip. My question is, can the metal inside be replaced?

I've done it and it was'nt too hard
Plenty of glue in the channel you cut out
And you dont have to be good with a welder...you wont see it

I know its not the most professional thing to do but if you don't want to deal with the metal again. You can clean it up like mentioned in the linked thread and use 3m window weld to secure the new bolts into place. I've actually done it multiple time on my previous 240sx's with are plauged with the same problem that being the spoilers are a foam rubber material and the metal rusts out and the bolts break off.
