Wire harness connector at the distributor
I have disconnected all the engine wire harness connections except for this green wire that goes to the distributor. I can't figure out how its connector comes apart. I took out the screw and the connector's metal plate (seen in the second photo) but still can't get the connector to come apart.
The clip that goes around the fan housing is very close to this connector and may be preventing me from getting it apart. Does anyone know the proper sequence to disconnect this wire? Do I need to pull off the fan housing's clip first? Does the connector just pull strait out? Any help greatly appreciated. ![]() ![]()

Remove the screw and the silver piece will come free, which will allow you to pull the plug out of the distributor. The sliver piece is a wire keeper. You will likely have to rotate the distributor in order to get enough clearance to pull the plug.

You will probably need to pull the distributer out to remove it. I had to. Unless you can rotate the dizzy to the left enough.

I was able to remove this connector after rotating the distributor. It does pull strait out. Here is what it looks like for anyone else doing this in the future.

hard to reach connector
There is another connector I would like to mention.
My SC's fuel injection system has a wiring connector on the right side that is difficult to reach. ![]() The split in its wire clip is not accessible so it cannot be spread apart like other connectors were. However, I was able to separate it by pushing a dental pick into a seam and pulling up on the wire clip (see arrow on picture). This cleared one end. Then I inserted a paper clip where the wire clip had originally been, to push its other end out through the bottom. While doing that I pulled the wire connector free. Don't know if that explanation makes sense but the whole procedure took only 2 minutes to do! When I first saw this connector I thought it would be nearly impossible to remove. You can get a dental pick from CVS. ![]()

I use a dental pick on the other side where the clip is separated and pop one side.
