Motronic Fuel Pressure Gauge
Why is it so hard to locate a 0-100# fuel pressure gauge for testing a Motronic FI system?
Our host sells them for the CIS systems but not for Motronic. There's nothing special about a Motronic fuel pressure gauge except it has a M14x1.5 female fitting on the end to hook up to the fuel rail. Other than the outrageous Porsche part, why doesn't anybody carry one? It seems like such an easy adaptation of any existing fuel pressure gauge. I can't even find a 1/8 NPT to female M14X1.5 fitting to make one up. Surely I can't be the only one that wants to test my FI pressures. HELP! ![]() |

HF Tester
I read the prior posts about the HF tester but it isn't clear that it works for a Motronic system. It definitely says it works for CIS. The fittings are apparently different between the two systems.
Has anyone out there bought an HF unit and actually used it on a Motronic car? Or does anyone have one that can verify it has the needed female M14X1.5 fitting in the kit? Thanks. |

Yeah it does fit for sure. The gauge is a little "meh" but the hose and fittings are good.

Thanks
Thanks for the info. Sounds like it's the only game in town except for the Porsche tool or maybe a Snap-On at a couple hundred bucks.
Is the gauge liquid filled? Should be easy enough to buy a decent gauge to go with the kit if it's not accurate. If you used it on a Motronic FI system how did your numbers come out? Were the gauge readings close to the 36# factory specs? Thanks again. |

You're kidding, right? There is a range of values.

Not Kidding
No, I'm not kidding. Just trying to see if the HF gauge is accurate enough to believe. Fuel pressures for Motronic systems are as follows:
1. Engine off- 36# 2. Engine running- 29# 3. Engine running, vacuum hose removed from pressure regulator- 33#-39# I was just wondering if you were getting readings in this range with the HF gauge. |

I believe it was but I don't have my notes with me. That kit works with both 911SC and Carrera.
With all due respect I think you have probably sold yourself on buying a Snap-On gauge so this conversaton is probably academic anyway. |
