Front Spoiler question
 

I've modified my 74's front valence as shown here. I'd like to add the stock rubber spoiler (fits 74-89) but am concerned that it won't fit under the round hole shown on the pic. My question, for anyone who has one of these spoilers lying around, is: could it be trimmed slightly to fit? Or would trimming destroy it? The catalog pics available aren't good enough to answer the question. Many thanks,

I don't see how that hole could possibly get in the way of a spoiler installation. The spoiler attachs to (I believe eleven) holes around the "flange", flat edge of the sides and bottom of the valance. You might need to drill holes to fit the spoiler and little mounting brackets....

The spoiler does come up the front of the valance slightly but looking at the picture I think you will be ok.

The only problem might be that if you are really unlucky one of the studs of the spolier will mount where the hole is, in which case you will see them through the hole.

It sets on the bottom lip, should not block your round hole.

Slight lip up, maybe 1/8" not much at all.

I just looked at mine, and there is a mounting point just under the foglight hole, and the next one is about five inches (inboard) over from the inner edge of the foglight hole.
Your big ol' hole is right in the middle, so no problem! Hmmm, that last line sounded a bit odd..... :eek:
Actually you could (I don't even think it will be necessary) skip one mount and your spoiler would still hug tight to the valance.

He could drill a new hole or two, just like people without pre-drilled holes.

Thanks to all. I imagined the rubber came up over the front of the valence much more than it does but I can live easily with 1/8" or so.
