anyone know what part this is???
Newbie diving in headfirst into '85 3.2. While I was replacing my engine lid shocks, I came across this cable that was ziptied to another part. It starts running from yellow section of the cylinder that is on the firewall (also in the photo), goes over the engine and then loops back around to a screw type end where the mounting bracket is ziptied. Any ideas. If you need more photos, let me know. Thanks in advance.

Cruise controll cable.

Thank you! Where should it be mounted?

engine

Goes towards the rear of the car and makes a u turn and attaches to the throttle. Should be a mounting bracket nearby that the plastic end fits into. Ken

It was probably off for a reason. Like it did not work, you could spend a lot of cash to get it to work properly. But they are handy.

Cruise cable
Here's a shot of the cruise control cable attached. The cruise control module is known to have cold solder joints thus not operating (properly or not at all). The cruise control module is located under the dash and is easy to get at. All you need to do is re-flow solder over a bunch of suspicious joints. This cured my cruise control and it now works great, but I rarely have opportunity to use it; but, hey it works!

I think ol' Porsche would've said "our cars are meant to be driven , not cruised" ;<)
But I guess like AC and the like, the US market dictated the add ons. |
