Lower cost option than Heuer for rally clocks
Yeah lower.....in a relative way.
Been looking at the Heuer rally clocks in the past year or two. I decided $1-5k/clock was a bit out of my price range for the Heuers. Found these great looking (to me) Herwins on the internet. They are Swiss made and very high quality. Both for just under $1000. Very nice heavy feel to them and they work great. Made up a mounting plate over the weekend that I painted black wrinkle. Came out OK I think. Now where to mount? Likely on the glove box door, but perhaps in the location of the non-functioning radio. Now to just find some backroads and a beautiful navigator..... :D Thought some would like to see what they look like. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1281498085.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1281498110.jpg |
GREAT JOB! please post pics when installed.
My Idea... I've been thinking about buying one of these and modifying it in a similar way. I plan to machine off the watch strap attachments and mount it like yours. They are cheap knock offs of Russian Sub Mariner watches. About $100 on Evil Bay. 50mm face! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1281500035.jpg |

A very low cost option, Russian stopwatches mounted on aluminum plate, supported by ashtray and held in place with heavy duty velcro, easy to remove when need be!http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1281544237.jpg

I noticed a while back that GTS sells rally timers as well: Watches |
I've been looking for a pair of the Herwins but can't find them (other than one guy who wants Heuer money for his). Can anyone suggest a supplier please?
