				Aviation Hose

FYI (our aviation mechanic members already know this), I visited the airplane maintenance place today and indeed they do have a variety of sizes of nice air hose. It is mostly kind of a dusty orange color...not fancy looking, but they do have it and it is certainly more durable that OEM.

The guy there must have told me five times that it is expensive. I finally pointed out that it is probably not more expensive that Porsche dealership hose. He saw my point.

Be aware that the "orange hose" comes in a variety of grades, all of them orange. Well, there's one that's black... There's CAT, SCAT and SCEET, as I remember, maybe some others--it's been awhile--and they are for increasingly high temperature applications. The best--short of stuff used for turbine pressurization applications--is SCEET, which is high-temp, double-walled. It's "expensive," but after all, how many feet of it can a 911 possibly use? Buy it from Aircraft Spruce or Wicks Aircraft, both of which have mail-order websites.

This place sells a wide variety of hoses. Different grades and materials.

http://www.ihozs.com/appl.cfm?selcode=DT If they don't have what you want, it might not exist. The only problem is they typically come in 20 ft or so lengths, and you pay for that. Thats probably enough to to 2-3 cars. Maybe you can get a couple guys together to split the costs.

The other guys are correct. Aircraft Spruce and Wicks both sell the hose in several colors. The orange stuff is OK but they have much the same in black in various sizes. www.aircraftspruce.com or http://www.wicksaircraft.com/ or www.chiefaircraft.com You might do a search for "sceet, cat or scat" on google and see what you come up with as well. As long as you keep oil and gas off of the hose it usually last a very long time. Believe that Chief Aircraft is in WA and could be in your area. Joe

Superman; It would be worth your while to call or go to Boeing Surplus in Kent Wash,Lots of really cool stuff there and I called a buddy who usually visit the place once a month or so and he said he has seen sceet hose there before. It will be dirt cheap and along with rows and rows of stainless and air tools and cool aircraft stuff in general etc etc.Personally I would be willing to wager money that you cannot leave the place without somthing?I think they usually restock on the first tues or thur of the month.A quick search will find there website which includes a map and a phone #.Its under boeing surplus retail store
